Partying 0n the Driveway
It has been my experience that when I am in the middle of a challenging situation, I just do what is needed and try not think too much about it. COVID lockdown was certainly a challenge for lots of us, but now I like being able to look back and think about how everything unfolded.
I am single and during the first part of the lockdown I was the only living being in my home. I am also very social, so this situation was hard. My closest group of friends were unavailable, and I really missed our dinners and deck parties.
After a few months of isolation, we came up with a solution to safely spend time together. I can’t remember exactly when this event occurred, but I had several inches of gray roots, so it had to have been months into lockdown. My best friend and her husband hosted a socially distanced driveway party. There were six of us in attendance. We brought our own chairs and sat at least six feet apart wearing our masks. I was also wearing a hat to cover the aforementioned gray roots. Our hosts served grilled hotdogs, individually wrapped chips, and we all brought our own drinks. We served ourselves one at a time so as to not get too close.
This probably sounds lame, but it was a fabulous treat to finally get together.
